Washington Elementary School is located at 110 S. Orchard Ave in Waukegan and services approximately 600 students. Our grade levels consist of three classes each at Kindergarten and first grade with four classes each in second through fifth grade. In addition, we offer Physical Education, Art, Music/Orchestra/Band, Computer, and Stem to all of the students. We have two Diverse Learner resource teachers. Our school also has two self-contained special needs classes. The school's ethic makeup consists is 86.3% Hispanic, 10.3% Black, 1.0% White, .3% Asian, and .3% American Indian. The student attendance rate is 93.1%, 76% of our students come from low-income households and 53% are from households with limited proficiency in English.
Our goal at Washington is to provide students with an education inclusive of technology that fosters individual critical thinking and to value life-long learning in order to prepare students for College and Career and the world of tomorrow.
We have many experienced and highly qualified teachers who are fully vested at Washington Elementary School. Their marked data has shown continued growth on Common Formative and adaptive assessments.
Our work is aligned to the District's Vision in that we want students to be successful change-agents in an ever-changing world. In order to do that, they must possess the skills necessary to be prepared for college and career readiness. To those ends, Washington Elementary provides all Tier 1 instruction to all students and the necessary interventions for Tier 2 and Tier 3 students to be successful.
