Homework Policy

At Washington School we know that learning should be reinforced when the school day ends. Our goal is your child's success. to help reach your child's goal, we require nightly opportunities at home that will support what your child has learned during the school day.

Reading is universal at every grade level. Therefore, a designated period of time must be set aside each evening for a reading activity.

As partners in your child's education, student, teacher, and parent are expected to work together. Everyone has a role in helping your student reach his or her goals.

As members of the Washington School Team, teachers, parents, and students will be responsible for:

Teachers

  • Providing time for students to write in their agendas daily
  • Giving meaningful home opportunities to extend student learning
  • Supporting and encouraging student effort and achievement

Students

  • Writing all assignments in agenda daily
  • Completing, returning, and handing in home learning opportunities daily
  • Asking for help with assignments if needed

Parents

  • Checking folders and agendas for assignments
  • Setting aside a consistent time and place for home learning opportunities
  • Supporting and encouraging students with their home learning assignments
